Choose Your Keepsake Type:

Picture
1) Sloped Dish ($25)
The bottle is fused flat and slumped into an elongated dish shape with gently curved edges and a stable base. The neck slopes up slightly to make a handle. In addition to being a great display piece, it is also perfect for serving snacks, dips, or as a spoon rest.  For light-colored glass, fused photos can be added. Or, text such as named and dates can be added in permanent fused glass paint.

2) Wall Vase ($20)
The bottle is fused flat with a heat-resistant material in the top to create an opening to hold your flowers. The opening is 1" wide and about 7" long and thick enough to allow enough space for long-stemmed dried or fresh flowers plus a bit of water. The bottle is wrapped with copper (or other colored) wire to create a hook on the back for hanging.

Text such as names and dates can be added permanent fused glass paint.

3) Flat Serving Platter ($20)
The bottle is fused flat to provide a surface for serving cheese or other snacks. Soft rubber bumps on the bottom protect your table and make it easier to move. A small sterling silver serving knife is included and comes tied to the neck with a ribbon.

A wedding invitation or label can be adhered to the bottle and covered with a thick glossy resin coating. The coating is water-resistant and food-safe but care should be taken not to cut into the surface with knives.

4) Crushed Glass Heart ($25)
The bottle is crushed and the pieces are fused together into a heart shape. The glass forms small pebbles with open spaces between them for an interesting "ice" effect. It hangs from a transparent nylon string on a wall, or it catches light beautifully when hung in a window. It can also be used as a trinket dish. Round plates can also be made and they look great on a plate stand or small easel.

Names and dates can be added to a piece of glass adhered to the surface or hanging from the bottom.

5) Bottle Clock ($25)
Your bottle is fused flat in the kiln, and then a hole is drilled to hold a standard clock movement. The clock has a built-in hanger for hanging on a nail or hook. It requires one AA battery to operate.

The original paper label can be adhered to the bottle. Or, text such as names and dates can be added in permanent fused glass paint.

Choose Any Personalization:

  1. Fused Handpainted Detail
This is great for adding names, a date, or a small quote. The paint is made from glass powder, so it fuses into the glass and cannot be washed or scraped away. It is food-safe. Various colors are available, but black or white shows up best. Suitable for any color bottle. +$10
  2. Fused Photo Decal
I scan your text or photo and create a fusible decal which is then fused into the flattened glass. It is food-safe and cannot be washed or scraped away. The ink turns sepia and creates an antique look. This is great for a photo, news clipping, invitation, or large text. Because the ink is brown, it works best on clear or yellow bottles. +$15
  3. Resin Coating
The original bottle label or other paper souvenirs such as an invitation can be adhered to the bottle and then covered with a thick, glossy resin coating. This is a coating often used for bar and counter tops. The surface is food-safe and water-resistant, but it should be hand-washed. As with bar and counter tops, care should taken not to cut on the surface or to place hot items on the surface. +$15
  4. Laminated Label Hang-Tag
This provides a way to preserve the label from your bottle and still be able to use the bottle as a dish. I will carefully remove the label and encase it in a polyvinyl tag. This water- and stain-resistant tag can be hung around the neck of the bottle, or where ever you want to display it. +$5

The Process

You provide your rinsed bottle and choose the keepsake style and any personalization. Your keepsake will be custom-made for you and ready in about a week.

Each bottle is slowly heated in a glass kiln to approximately 1500 degrees so that it fuses flat, and then it is cooled at controlled temperatures over many hours to ensure proper annealing for a strong glass structure. To shape the glass or add photos or other painted details requires additional firings. All told, your bottle may be in the kiln for up to three days.

Bottle dishes are food-safe. Hand washing is recommended. Do not microwave.
